L. Dustin Merritt
L. Dustin Merritt is a native of Calhoun County, Alabama where he attended Weaver Elementary and High school.
Dustin Merritt attended The University of Alabama where he received his Bachelor’s degree in Business Management. Following undergraduate, Dustin began working in the business sector in Atlanta, GA until returning to Law School at Liberty University in 2010. Dustin received his Juris Doctorate degree from Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia where he was a Dean’s scholarship recipient. While in law school, he served on the Alternative Dispute Resolution Board and was a member of the Criminal Law Society.
Dustin is committed to passionate pursuit of justice on behalf of his clients. Dustin has significant litigation and trial experience. He has an excellent reputation as a competent litigator and has successfully represented many clients in Family and Criminal Court as well as in the Northern District of Alabama United States Bankruptcy Court.
Dustin Merritt, along with other founding member, Michael LaPlante, has helped grow and advance LaPlante, Merritt, Faulkner, Wilson & Clay, LLC, into one of the largest Bankruptcy, Personal Injury, Criminal Defense and Family Law practices in Northeast Alabama.
Dustin is very active in the community and presently serves on the board of the Family Services Center of Calhoun County. Dustin is a member of the Alabama State Bar and a member of the Family Law Section. Dustin also currently serves on the Calhoun / Cleburne County Bar Association’s Executive Committee where he was a past President and Secretary of the Association.
Dustin and his wife live in Anniston. They enjoy quality time with their two children, participating in outdoor activities and spending time on the lake.
